The Library Hotel, New York

It's been a little over a month since we returned from our big US and Canada trip. I've been meaning to write about it for a while, but October was extraordinary in the ways it sought to keep me busy - so it's just now that I finally have the pictures ready to share. It was such a lovely fortnight and I'm really looking forward to sharing about it with you all here.

The first leg of our visit was to New York. I've been to the states several times but never to the Big Apple, so I was so excited to finally make it there. When selecting a hotel we were really spoiled for choice and were finding it hard to pin down a choice until Matthew came across a hotel perfect for a reader like me - The Library Hotel. Set just off Madison Avenue in the heart of Midtown, a block from the New York Public Library, it was a fantastic base for exploring the city. You really couldn't be more in the thick of things - the UN was in session while we were there and the Obamas were at a hotel three blocks away!

The Library is a beautiful boutique luxury hotel, and we thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay. The hotel is gorgeously designed, the staff helpful and friendly, and the theme heavenly. Each room is designed to correlate with an aspect of the Dewey Decimal System used in libraries, and each floor follows a theme such as nature, biography, science or art. It's a unique and diverting way to style rooms and means that you could stay here several times and enjoy a different experience on each visit should you so wish! Our junior suite was on the 9th floor and had a biography theme - the bookcases were filled with tomes on the great, the good and the infamous!
